How to promote your Restaurant for Christmas
Christmas time is a great way get some real time traffic coming into your restaurant. For some restaurants it can be a time to redeem their business. However it’s not something you can leave to last minute. To really cash in on the occasion it’s best to plan it out in advance and start early. If it’s any help, when the Christmas candies hit the shelves, you should be promoting your Christmas offers ..
Having said that, Christmas marketing is not limited to just D day. It’s the Season, the food, the drinks and the parties that come with it. It’s a fantastic time to attract new clients and display your creativity in the kitchen with tasting sessions, new cuisines and just celebrating the spirit. Let’s look at few ideas to
Promote your Restaurant for Christmas:
This to us is the first and most obvious move to make. whether you are a local Pub or an Indian Restaurant, a Chinese Buffet or a Take Away, creating a special holiday menu is a sure shot way to grab attention for the season. Everyone’s out for a feast so why not give them just that?
You can either create a limited time seasonal menu paired with wines and desserts for the month of December or you can create a set menu with a flat price which encourages customers to order a three to five course meal
Give your customers enough time to see what you’re offering. Send them newsletters, market it on the social media and and send out flyers well in time for customers to process and book their tables in time. The earlier it is the sooner your days can fill up and you as a restaurant can perform better with the anticipated traffic during the peak time.
Decorate it like you mean it
It doesn’t take much to do decorate a restaurant to make it feel festive. Put up a tree, pop those crackers on the table, hang up those hollies and see the crowd flow in. If you want to go a step ahead, have your staff wear a Santa hat for those promotion months – you might think it looks silly, but it’s sure to bring a smile.
Good food makes a Great gift. If customers love your food they will love the idea of gifting someone else an experience like theirs… which is why starting early is key to doing gift voucher promotions. Give them the flexibility to buy big and small denominations. It’s a good idea to promote these through your website and social media so your customers can know that you have an option like this.
Create the buzz by holding special contests in the holiday season. Keep them simple but effective. For example, Telling your customers to tweet a pic of them dining at the restaurant. The best pic wins! Not only did it give a chance for your customers to engage, but also created a social media ripple which helps your business to grow.
Secondly make the prizes attractive such as a meal for two or a bottle of bubbly to ensure that customers WANT to take part and get a chance to taste your fabulous food in the process.
Don’t forget the kids
Christmas is a time for the families and it’s important to include the kids when doing promotions for the restaurant. This can be done with a KIDS SPECIAL MENU or a special treat for them when they dine in, perhaps a hot chocolate to finish their meal. Or why not hold a competition for them to draw something and pick winner on Christmas eve?!
Holding events in the restaurant is fun way to entertain the customers. This can be a cooking session for kids or adults, a music night or a live performance that creates a great atmosphere for maybe another dessert? Don’t restrict yourself to simply serving your customer, build a rapport that shows your passion for your art and include your customers in that!
Give something back
Christmas is a great time to give something back to the community. To those who are less fortunate and cannot afford the luxuries of a fancy meal. You can do this by holding a fundraiser by which all proceeds or a percentage of the sales goes to a chosen charity. Not only will new customers get to dine in with this event, but will also respect your commitment to the community.
Irrespective of your cuisine there are some staple items that make Christmas what it is and customers expect to see when they come in to dine. These include, Turkey, Cranberry sauce, Gingerbread, Christmas pudding, Mulled wine, Minced pies to name a few. Venture out to see what can fit your menu or can be outsourced to be sold as gift boxes. There are lot of home bakers who are on a look out to get some exposure and you could benefit from that.
