Pokemon is what they call LIVE or Augmented Reality. By computer generated sensors you see things through your gadget in your surrounding as if they were real. Now, we came from a generation of table top phone with round manual dials – you can imagine what an excitement this evolution in technology brings to us.
Like anyone else, our first reaction was to feel how unsafe and addictive this game is going to be for the coming generation. And it is, there’s no doubt about that. But let’s take a step back for a minute and get over that bit… and look at the bigger picture.
We went to hot spots over the weekend, biking around town to grab as many pokemons as we could. And we realised that…
Pokemongo has brought video gaming outdoors..
It’s a perfect blend of sunshine, beers, buddies and video gaming!
It’s about how you want to perceive it. But like any other video games or apps, this one too has a life. And when the initial craze fades and people start to realise that their reality is not augmented (the servers won’t crash as much)… that’s when you start to think, WHAT NOW!!??
We stumbled upon an article by this weekend It got us thinking. Pokemongo it’s a revolution when it comes to mobile phone apps, video gaming, reality gaming etc etc.. But it’s also an amazing tool for promotions and branding!!! Augmented reality is not just for playing but can be used for so many businesses to create hype, for giveaways, real time contest and also gather people in one place for a special event at a certain time!

This is how this article came to being. We spent an hour biking around the prominent hubs to grab as many pokemons as we could – surely we weren’t training for a marathon but our legs disagreed!

So if you can’t beat them, join them and sneak into their digital lives and get yourself ahead of the game! It’s a great way to create awareness of your brand as well as give a new twist to your recall value!
This concept is also amazing for larger chain brands.. It’ll keep the consumer engaged with your brand even after their cup of coffee and will encourage them to keep coming back if they can collect goodies in their local town/franchisees…No more privilege or loyalty cards!
If you are a larger business that has diversified products or services.. An app like this can help you interlink them to promote your brand at a collossal proportion. So if you have a restaurant and a book store and a salon you could use them as “pokestops” and drive traffic to all your brands. You could increase sales too, by asking the consumers to buy something from this stop and get extra points for the final prize, the more you buy the more items you get in your app.

Collecting miles is probably is our favourite specially if you travel a lot for work (now won’t this make it a lot more fun!).
